New Resources

What's new in Google Partner Connect
This month, we've uploaded the following new resources on Google Partner Connect (GPC). For deployment resources, you can now view Watchpoints (WPs) by technical topic, where 130 new WPs have been loaded on GPC. There is also a new resource on preventing data leakage. Also, be sure to continue checking our Sales section for up-to-date information on selling Drive, Vault and transitioning your reseller account to monthly billing.

Join other partners benefiting from free content syndication with Zift
Content syndication is a free way for you to leverage Google-provided content on your company website with minimal maintenance. Using this professional content syndication platform, you can easily enhance the sales and marketing message on your website with a simple line of code. Over 300 partners have registered for this service, such as Dito and Cloudbakers, so sign up now to take advantage of our latest video and regular asset updates.

Gartner Report: "Google Upsetting Microsoft's Cloud-Office System Ambitions"
Gartner released a new report which shows Google rapidly gaining market share from Microsoft. "Google Apps is taking more business away from Microsoft than we expected, raising its stature as an enterprise provider." In fact, one-third to one-half of new, paid-for, cloud-based office system seats are won by Google.

Talkin' Cloud's annual Cloud 100 results are in!
Combined cloud services revenues hit $2.3 billion for the world's Top 100 Cloud Services Providers (CSPs) in 2011, up 45.6% from 2010, according to the second annual Talkin' Cloud 100 survey results. The survey was based on responses from a mix of channel partners, from pure cloud services providers to VARs that now offer cloud solutions. Some interesting points include: 33% respondents are selling Google Apps vs. 30.4% selling Office 365, 71.4% are selling SaaS, and 73.2% have customers with 51-100 employees.

This week, we announced that Google Apps for Business earned ISO 27001 certification. ISO 27001 is one of the most widely recognized, internationally accepted independent security standards and we have earned it for the systems, technology, processes and data centers serving Google Apps for Business.

New Chromebook launched and next steps for Chrome OS

Hangouts on Air launches

Gmail adds Google+ integration
New Google+ features are introduced in Gmail, allowing users of both services to update comments and status messages as soon as they're posted. What's new in Google Partner Connect
We have updated the Deployment Toolkit Resources in Google Partner Connect (GPC), including Multidomain Management with Google Apps and a Sample Statement of Work (SOW) template. Also, since the launch of the guided Partner Learning Path, partners new and more experienced have utilized the assets and resources to help them offer services that create business value for their customers and bring in recurring revenue for their business. MSPexcellence's Cloud Solutions Provider Program
n a partnership with Google, MSPexcellence has introduced the Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP) Program, a business building program for Google Apps resellers. This program is designed to help Google partners use Google Apps for Business as a foundation for building a CSP business and to maximize their revenue and profitability. The CSP Program combines ready-to-use business modeling tools with virtual peer groups where Google partners apply their collective knowledge and experience. Learn more and get involved.

Improved connections with Google

Transition to monthly billing
Monthly billing for resellers was recently launched for partners in the Reseller Tools. We encourage you to transition to the new billing system if you haven't already because it enables more flexible billing options for you (Annual Plan or Flexible Plan) and subsequently for your customers. To transition, look for the yellow promo box and click the "Move to monthly billing" link in your Reseller Tools. If you don't see the promo box, it'll be available for you soon. If you'd like more details on the new billing system and transition flow, please review the webinar (recording, presentation), visit the Monthly Billing page in GPC and refer to the Help Center.

Product Updates

Google Drive: the newest member of Google Apps
Last week, Google launched the much-anticipated Google Drive (see the announcement we sent you). Google Drive is a new file synchronization product that allows users to centrally store all of their files in Google Docs and accessed via a web browser, the sync client, and the mobile app. More importantly, Google Drive business storage allows you, the reseller, to centrally purchase and allocate storage licenses to your customers and their users. This provides additional storage, backup and disaster recovery service offerings you can bring to your customers and more recurring revenue opportunities for your business. Reseller availability is coming very soon, look for a dedicated announcement. In the meantime, please review the Drive page in GPC to prepare your Drive sales cycles.

New contacts delegation
You may now delegate your contacts to other users within your domain. Like mail delegation, you may delegate your contacts to no more than 25 other users at the same time. Delegation allows the sharing of the entire "My Contacts" list. Learn more.

New administrative roles
Previously, administrator privileges were assigned on a per-user basis. As a replacement, you can now create "roles" such as Help Desk, Services, and Groups, or create your own custom roles for your customers. Learn more.

Disable automatic forwarding in Gmail
By default, Gmail lets users automatically forward incoming mail to another address. As an administrator for all your customers, you can disable this option to prevent your customers from setting up automatic forwarding. Learn how.

New look coming in the Google Apps control panel
We are launching a new redesigned dashboard of the admin control panel over the next few weeks. It will surface the most commonly performed admin tasks (e.g. resetting user passwords, quick-links to support, billing, etc) and ease the visual transition from the signup flow into the control panel. This should ease the setup process for your new customers.

Goodbye Google Sync for Blackberry
Beginning June 1, 2012, we're ending our support for Google Sync for BlackBerry. If you already have the app installed, you will still be able to use it; however it will not be supported by Google or available for download after June 1. If you currently use Google Sync for BlackBerry, we encourage you to switch to BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or theGoogle Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server going forward. These alternatives offer a better overall experience, as you can sync your email messages, calendar, and contacts through a single service.
