Google Video for Business moving to Read Only Mode

Dear Google Apps Customer,

Shortly after November 30th, 2012, Google Video for Business will be placed into read-only mode, and will not accept uploads of or edits to videos. This is in preparation for moving videos from Google Video for Business into Google Drive, which will begin after December 8th, 2012. These videos will not affect Google Drive quotas when migrated. Please ensure that at least one admin user has Google Drive enabled if you wish to continue accessing your stored videos.

In order to share videos going forward, please upload videos directly to Google Drive (http://support.google.com/docs/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1251338).

Once the migration is complete, links and embedded videos will continue to function without any change, and the access to the Google Video for Business service will be removed from your domain.

Google Apps Authorized Reseller Program

Dear Oleg,

Since the launch of the Google Enterprise Partner Search last week, we’ve seen strong traffic to the site and received lots of positive and constructive feedback. We know that, like us, you care deeply about the quality of customers’ experience, including their ability to easily connect with the Apps Reseller that’s right for them. Many of you have sent us suggestions for things you’d like to see changed or improved in the Enterprise Partner Search, such as better location matching.

We’re writing this note to let you know we’ve heard your feedback and we’re taking action. We’re already hard at work on a number of updates to the tool, which should roll out (with improved search results) over the course of the next few weeks.

But we also need your help.

Actions Requested (by Friday, Nov 9th):
  1. Please confirm & update your company’s location(s) in the Partner Listing Tool.
    • One update we’re making requires that all partner locations be complete, legally registered addresses. This means the address you enter in the Partner Listing Tool must match the address that local governments have on file for your legal business entity within their jurisdiction.
    • Please note that Enterprise Partner Search will no longer include results for any incomplete addresses for your business.
  2. Switch your account to the monthly billing system to maximize your ranking.
    • Sales performance is a key driver of your search results ranking.
    • Consistent with our recent launches, it is best to be on our new monthly billing system. Driving your sales through monthly billing will benefit your sales performance.
    • If you are still on our legacy billing system, switch to monthly billing by looking for the yellow promo box and clicking the “Move to monthly billing” link in your Reseller Tools.
  3. Upload your company logo into your Reseller Tools.
    • The logo from your Reseller Tools is what we use to showcase your company on search results. Make sure your listing looks the best it can per these instructions. Here are logo guidelines.

Program Updates

Google Enterprise Partner Search launched
As you saw this week, Google Enterprise Partner Search is now available for all Google Apps prospects and customers to "Search, Click, and Call" you, and other partners around the world. We encourage you to: If you need to add or switch users for access to editing your company listing, add this user to the reseller console as a super admin. This account will be provisioned within 24 hours. If you experience any other issues, please enter your details in this form. To learn more, refer to the Enterprise Partner Search page on Google Partner Connect (under Marketing -> Apps). You can also review our training sessions for the Partner Search and Listing Tool in this recording and presentation.


Connect with the community
In order to stay connected and establish relationships with Google and other Google Apps for Business partners, become a member of our Community page and connect with a partner manager on Google+. Ask questions, read news article snippets, and learn about best practices from others.


New Resources

What's new in Google Partner Connect
In the past month, we've added several new resources and updated many others on Google Partner Connect that may interest you and boost your Apps knowledge:
  • Printable customer handouts for prospects and events.
  • GPC Live launched and brings together all Enterprise-related online events into one destination. Now you can easily add upcoming events to your calendar and view past recordings to keep up to date on product information, learn best practices, and participate in office hours. To use, simply click on the drop-down menu on the top right and select which products you are interested in, and the entire library (both upcoming events and recorded videos) will filter to your specifications.

Helping SMBs save money with the cloud
Working with Google and Analysis Group, MIT research scientist Andrew McAfee recently conducted a study to understand the comparative costs of a business moving to the cloud versus remaining with a traditional on-premise IT system. In this comparative cost model, McAfee finds that the typical small- to medium-business (SMB) will significantly reduce its IT costs by doing away with its on-premise technology and moving to the cloud.

Rewatch the recent U.S. Zeigeist
"Zeitgeist" means "the spirit of the times," and this spirit can be seen through the aggregation of millions of search queries Google receives every day. Product Updates

The new compose in Gmail
We're always trying to make Gmail faster and easier to use, so this week we're introducing a completely redesigned compose and reply experience that does just that. Your customers and users on Rapid Release domains will see the opportunity to opt-in by clicking the Compose button. They can click the "new compose experience" link right next to the Labels button at the top of the message. Try it out for yourself and encourage your customers and users to do so as well - they can switch back to the classic compose/reply experience. In early 2013, this will become the default compose and reply experience in Gmail. Watch an intro video, review the guide, and learn more.


Announcing the $249 Samsung Chromebook
We recently released a brand new Chromebook - the computer for everyone. This new device will be available for $249. Additionally, we will be opening up special kiosks in 500 of the most heavily trafficked Best Buy stores so consumers can actively experience the computer. Buy one today.


Import emails and contacts from other webmail systems

One click to Docs, Sheets, and Slides
Google Drive is a place where you can create, share, collaborate and keep all your stuff. Of course, there are times you want to start a new document right away–say, to take notes in class or prepare a last-minute presentation for your boss. To make it even easier for you to create stuff quickly, Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentations – now called Docs, Sheets, and Slides – are now available as apps in the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, shortcuts to these apps will appear when you open a new tab in Chrome.

General Audit Tool module for Email
Everyone knows one of the big holes in auditing google docs has been tracking data flows into and out of the organisation as attachments to emails. Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey on monthly billing. We're feeding your input back to our internal teams. Based on the feedback and recent launches for the Google Apps Reseller Program, we ran a series of sessions to share experiences we've gathered. The first session focused on a review and the advantages of monthly billing (links topresentation and recording). One of those advantages is the ability to bring more products to your customers, so the second session focused on selling Drive and Drive storage which shared experiences from our own sales experts (links to presentation and recording).

You can migrate to monthly billing by going to your reseller tools console: is-alliance.net. For those who are already on the monthly billing system, you can also enable your reseller tools to sell Drive.

We believe the content will help you further understand these changes and enable you to deliver an even greater experience to your Google Apps customers, so we strongly encourage you to review the material if you couldn't attend. With the new monthly billing system, everything is still the same, but better:
  • You still get 20% reseller margin on Annual or Flex Plans.
  • You still get credit for all your customers paid to date.
  • You still own the customer billing relationship. On the new billing system, we will be billing you on a monthly basis. However, you are free to set up any billing terms or cycle (annual, monthly, quarterly) that you and your customers wish.
What is changing is that you and your customers get more choice:
  • More products for your customers (Drive storage now, more coming soon!).
  • More flexible customer payment, with reduced liability.
  • More room for bigger customers.
  • More predictable monthly recurring revenue (MRR) for your business.
And as you continue to explore and sell Drive, consider the following advantages as shared by our sales and partner teams:
  • Pitch Drive & Storage as unique features in the Google Apps suite.
  • Large upsell potential with your install base.
  • Specific customer use cases.
  • Partner service opportunities.
